Giving my final piece the "film look"

I have researched online and found out different methods to giving footage a more professional look, using techniques big film companies use. Here I have taken some test footage from my very first draft and altered one, and left the other.
This video doesn't look very professional at all, the colours and contrast make it look like it is recorded on a bad camera, and it doesn't quite have that film look.

I then added colour corrections and contrast as well as changing the aspect ratio.
In some scenes the colour correction is far too strong, and I will be sure to change this when I edit my final piece, this research has been very valuable to me as I can now make my final product more professional and appealing.

New film plan

I'm going to create a film plan so that I can be organised on the day of filming, as i mentioned in the previous post my first attempt at filming didn't go very well and creating a good filming plan will allow me to get it done fast.

I will firstly film Randell, Jimmy and Thomas in an abandoned warehouse - type location. Here i will use a pan on Thomas walking around, medium shots on Jimmy and Randell talking and an aerial shot on the 3 of them. I will film around 30 seconds of footage so I can pick and choose accordingly to work well with the voice over.

After this I will get a close up on each character. I will record for about 5 seconds on each of their faces in different lightings so i can decide which to choose later on.

After that I will go on to record the scene that contains the breach of the building. I will get a two shot with two detectives outside the door prepared to breach. Both will be holding a gun. I will record this from a few different angles for about 7-10 seconds each.

I will then film from an alternate angle using a canted shot on Sgt. Sampson signalling to enter the building.

I will then get an over the shoulder shot of Jax walking towards the door. Sgt. Sampson and the other detective will look at him.

While Jax says "step aside" in the voice over, i will also get him to say step aside in this scene, i will get a POV shot from Sgt. Sampson to achieve this.

I will then go onto a close up of Sgt. Sampsons face during Jax's voiceover where he states "this is gonna be a solo mission"

It will then cut to a long shot of all the characters in one shot. Sgt. Sampson and Jax begin a handshake.

There will then be an insert shot on the handshake.

There will then be a long shot of the two detectives passing Jax their guns.

There will then be an over the shoulder shot of Jax entering the building.

The shot will then switch to the criminals looking suprised and scared in a certain direction. I will do this using medium shots and long shots.

There will then be a low angle shot of Jax walking in for around 3 seconds.

It will then switch to a long shot of Jax dropping one of his guns.

There will then be a close up on his foot kicking it.

It will switch to an insert of the gun flying across the screen,

There will then be a close up of Jimmy getting hit by the gun.

The narrative then switches back to the interview so i will be done filming in this location.

I will then record the scene with Jimmy dropping a banana skin on the floor and laughing. I will use a close up on his hand putting the banana down which will then rotate up to his face laughing.

Im then going to film the interview scene.

That is my day of filming for tomorrow done, and i will continue with the rest of the scenes on Sunday where i can get a better location.

Music for main task

I have been looking for music that can fit into my film on Youtube, I've looked for specifcally royalty free music so I can post it on my page giving the proper credit. Below each song or selection of songs I will assign the setting to the scene.

Jax Power enters the police department and throws glasses on floor in slow motion

Randell Wartscab is searching around a house, looking to steal things
Thomas Pennyworth sees someone with socks and sandals and schemes to kill them
A real thief steals a woman's purse and there is a small chase scene, the thief passes the stolen purse to Jimmy Rustler and he gets taken out.

Filming Planning

I'm going to be filming tomorrow, and with this, I need somewhat of a plan, I'm going to go over everything in this blog post so I can refer back if i ever get stuck. Tomorrow I'll just be filming my main scene that's set within the police department, so I'll make more plans for filming when I'm doing my other scenes, which will probably be around the weekend.

Character clothing:
Jax Power - Shirt + tie with leather jacket and trainers.
Sgt. Sampson - Shirt + tie with formal trousers and shoes
Randell Wartscab - Stained shirt + ripped trousers, scruffy trainers
Thomas Pennyworth - Shirt + tie with scarf and funky jacket
Jimmy Rustler - Geeky top, glasses, hoodie.

Props:
Watch
Sunglasses

Setting:
Police department

Technical equipment:
Camera
Microphone
Tripod

What I need to film:
Jax Power walks through corridor, Sgt. Sampson is looking at watch connoting a long wait. Meanwhile, the criminals are stood up against a wall. Jax Power enters after a slo-mo sequence in which he takes off his sunglasses and breaks them. The two detectives exchange a small amount of dialogue and start talking about the perps. The camera pans to each perp individually and Jax Power describes what each one of them is in for.
Later on I will record each of the crimes committed by each perp and put this clip over the voice over so it happens simultaneously.
After each criminals crimes have been described the Sgt. says good work to Jax and the scene will end.

Title typography ideas

I have created some typography that I could use on my main title sequence, this will save time in the future so I wont have to create it whilst editing

Setting up for editing

I have not yet filmed my movie yet, and I'm not able to for a little while so I've written out all text that im going to need with the necessary font so i can pull it out and put it in my intro whenever needed, this means i wont be wasting valuable time when editing.
