Giving my final piece the "film look"

I have researched online and found out different methods to giving footage a more professional look, using techniques big film companies use. Here I have taken some test footage from my very first draft and altered one, and left the other.

This video doesn't look very professional at all, the colours and contrast make it look like it is recorded on a bad camera, and it doesn't quite have that film look.

I then added colour corrections and contrast as well as changing the aspect ratio.

In some scenes the colour correction is far too strong, and I will be sure to change this when I edit my final piece, this research has been very valuable to me as I can now make my final product more professional and appealing.
